Equine Podotrochlear Apparatus - Histologic Characterization

چکیده

Background: The navicular syndrome may be associated with alterations in other podotrochlear apparatus components, such as the deep digital flexor tendon, collareral sesamoid and distal ligaments, bursa bone. However, clinical significance nature of these changes are not well understood, many descriptive reports about bone lesions rarely accompanied by a complete comprehensive comparison animals control group. aim this study was to described histologically findings podrotrochlear allowing understanding inserts their microscopic appearance, thus providing future recognize alterations.Materials, Methods & Results: Fourteen samples were taken out 44 equine thoracic limbs specimens, separated at radiocarpal joint Crioulo Thoroughbred horses, an average age 6.0-year-old, coming from private clinic southern Brazil. specimens refrigerated 4ºC then they sent University Federal Santa Maria (UFSM). Once laboratory, dissected isolate each one. Subsequently, transversal longitudinal bone, tendo, ligament, colateral collected which processed Veterinary Pathology Laboratory UFSM Catarina (UFSC). tissues fixed 10% formaldehyde solution for 14 days routinely histology. sectioned 3 µm stained using hematoxylin-eosin (H-E) routine method. samples, after fixation, underwent decalcified process formic acid-sodium citrate aqueous histopathology. Histologic tendons evaluation showed that it is arranged honeycombs fascicles transverse section observation. tendinous fibers have more compact aligned collagen arrangement due dense connective tissue. synovial membrane composed cubic pseudo conjunctival epithelium layer synoviocytes forming villi towards lumen. This characterization very similar membrane. collateral ligament perfectly aligned, occurring confluence some areas dissection adipose sesamoide fibers, loose tissue vascular stroma. articular surface layers chondrocytes embedded hyaline matrix. There clear differentiation between subchondral area fibrocartilage palmar aspect bone.Discussion: morphophysiological structures inside hoof capsule important recognition abnormalities possible hypothesis originates syndrome. These great relevance often limb lameness horses. normal macroscopic, ultrasonographic radiographic images along histomorphometric contributed comprehension consequently interpretation diseases. Keywords: apparatus, syndrome, histological findings.

Convenient apparatus for the continuous dehydration of histologic material.

SUAL METHODS OF DEHYDRATING histologic material, such as repeated passages through weak to strong solutions of alcohol, are rather time consuming, and the time lost in the recovery of the solvent has compelled most laboratories instead to discard it after use. Such a practice can amount toenormous expense ofmaterial.Automatic devicesreduce toa minimum the personneland the time requiredfortheirop...

Apparatus design for suffusion characterization

The internal erosion of soil results from seepage flow. It appears to be the main cause of severe hydraulic failure for dams and dikes. All around the world, 46% of dams present a risk of internal erosion. In France, 70 critical cases have already been detected. When internal erosion is suspected, the delay to failure is hardly predictable. Then, authorities should be able to develop effective ...

Microbiologic Characterization of Equine Mastitis

Mastitis occurrence in mares is low if compared to other livestock species. The microorganisms often isolated and detected in milk and mammary gland secretions of mares are Streptococcus beta-haemolytica, Staphylococcus spp., Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Actinobacillus spp., and enterobacter. The present experiment was designed to evaluate the main microorganisms present in the milk of healthy mares...

Histologic characterization of canine dilated cardiomyopathy.

Dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM), characterized by chamber dilatation and myocardial systolic and diastolic dysfunction, is one of the most common heart diseases in dogs. The clinical diagnosis is based on findings on echocardiographic and Doppler examinations, with the active exclusion of other acquired or congenital heart diseases. However, the echocardiographic criteria for the diagnosis of DCM ...

Magnetic resonance protocols in equine lameness examination, used sequences, and interpretation.

Magnetic resonance is a great diagnostic tool in equine lameness examination. Its value is most significantly visible in evaluating distal extremities. Problems with podotrochlear apparatus, laminitis or distal interphalangeal joint osteoarthritis are the most common disorders diagnosed in equine patients. Without using magnetic resonance it was impossible to clearly assess which structures are...
